The Phoenix Suns haven’t been at their best for a while and most definitely have seen better days. They missed the playoffs for nine straight seasons but began to improve a while back. They won quite a few games in the seasons before 2019 which had fans hoping for a comeback. Eight straight victories followed in the 2019/20 season and fans were seen beaming with hope and joy for a better future. They made a few adjustments in the roster and went into the 2020/21 season well prepared. They managed to make an outrageous comeback by making it past the playoffs towards the NBA finals. In the 2021/22 season they, once again, continued to perform at their best holding the NBA‘s top record of 64-18. Both seasons, unfortunately, they just missed their chance. They certainly have the rooster and the spirit to improve even more and maybe win a title to their name.
The Suns have great plans for the offseason starting with hiring a new head coach after Monty Williams was fired even after winning Coach of the Year. Shortlisted candidates include Frank Vogel, Kevin Young and Doc Rivers, all being a great fit for the position. Moving towards the roster, the team doesn’t have much flexibility having to work around Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. After the departure of Chris Paul and Cameron Payne, there are two empty spots in the roster with their salaries. The team may pick other players with guaranteed pay but they will be left with just six players but more importantly, they will be a little over the luxury tax line.
They don’t have any tradeable first round picks so they have limited options for trade. They desperately need players to fill out the roster which is why the team may look into extending their offer with Jock Landale. Him staying with the Suns may be good after his exceptional performance in the playoffs. Even if they manage to keep him, the roster, with now seven players, will remain in trouble. Another player that the Suns might want to bring back is Torrey Craig who despite injuries, is a player of great talent and skill. Now even if they complete the rest of the roster with minimum salary deals, they will be well over the luxury tax.
For the upcoming season, the Phoenix Suns have one of the best duos in the league but there isn’t much to complement around it. The next season looks quite promising for the team and fans all over the world are eager to witness what the team brings to the court this time around. Everyone wants to see what kind of strategies and moves the team pulls through to stay out of trouble. They need smart roster moves if they wish to further improve their performance and chemistry. Intense competition awaits them and they must bring forward their best to be successful this season. They aim to play better than before and work towards victory in the upcoming seasons.
Bitcoin sportsbooks currently have Phoenix at +650 (6.5/1) odds. That is third overall. This means that the experts fully expect Phoenix to have a great shot at winning it all. This would be their first championship if they are able to do so. In fact, the Suns are the only current NBA team that have NEVER won an NBA championship in its history (which, for some teams, includes time spent in prior cities): 54 years old despite having previously made it to three finals (1976, 1993, 2021)
