The city is located in an arid climate zone. There is very little rainfall during the year. Winters are warm, with an average air temperature of +19 ºС…+22 ºС. Summer is very hot, the air warms up to +33 ºС…+37 ºС. The beach season lasts all year round. But because of the sweltering heat, it is difficult for Europeans to be on the beach in summer. Most tourists come here from September to May.

The largest event celebrated in the city is National Day. The country’s Independence Day takes place on December 2 and 3, and is accompanied by grandiose processions, concerts, competitions, and sports competitions. And it ends with magnificent fireworks and colorful laser shows.

Art lovers gather in Ras Al Khaimah in March every year for the international art festival (RAK fine art festival). It is traditionally held at Jazeera al-Hamra. The ancient settlement turns into an open-air gallery for the duration of the event. Works of both local and famous artists and photographers from all over the world are exhibited here, and films are screened. At the fine arts festival, there are famous masters of painting, photography, and cinematography giving exciting lectures and masterclasses.

It doesn’t matter when you arrive in Ras Al Khaimah. A beautiful city is able to surprise and charm at any time of the year, leaving only wonderful memories in your memory.

Top 3 things to do as a tourist in Ras Al Khaimah

  • Climb up to Dayah Fort. The fortified building of the 16th century was erected on the top of a hill facing the bay. The mudbrick fort was used to defend the city from the British fleet. Here you can see the remains of the fortress walls and watchtowers. Don’t forget to take a souvenir photo from this place. The panorama that opens up to the bay and the surrounding area is an excellent backdrop for pictures.
  • Admire the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, located near the city’s waterfront. It is built of light yellow stone in the traditional Arabic style and delights with its beauty and grace. Four high minarets surrounding the round dome are visible from almost every point in the city. Those who wish can go inside the mosque and admire its interior.
  • Arrange an excursion to the village of Jazeera Al-Hamra. The oldest settlement in the region is now slowly being destroyed. It was abandoned by the inhabitants, who were previously famous for their ability to extract pearls. It is here that you can plunge into the atmosphere of Arab life, see the authentic living conditions of local peoples, and feel the inexorable passage of time.
